The temps finally dropped in Dallas, and this slow cooker apple cider was a MUST!
What is it about a warm drink in hand that just makes you feel at home?
My sweet Mama came and stayed with me last week while I was recovering from knee surgery. I had my acl in my right knee replaced and was not allowed to drive. Mom drove the boys and I everywhere, cooked for us, did laundry and just loved us well. We LOVED having her here. I had never made apple cider from scratch before, but we had fun whipping this up. It was surprisingly easy!
This slow cooker method also makes it easy to serve a crowd! It would be perfect for the holidays…and feel free to spike it! I won’t judge!
4-5 apples chopped- any eating apple will work. We used Granny Smith and Fuji.
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon all spice
1 orange, chopped
8 cups of water
Slow cooker liner for easy cleanup
Line crockpot and place all ingredients inside. Cook on low for 6 hours.
Once cooked, use a potato masher to squeeze out all the juice.
Scoop out apples, oranges and cinnamon sticks.
We served ours with whipped cream, caramel and cinnamon sticks!
