Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge-Week 2-Demo and Inspiration

October 9, 2019

It’s week 2 of the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge and guess what day it is?!?

DEMO DAY!

Hey 1990s tile, you’ve been good to us, but it’s time to go!

And while crushing you into pieces can be somewhat therapeutic….

It also makes a dusty MESS!

Don’t get me wrong, the mess will be WELL worth it, but I just want to warn you if you have never taken out tile before! We taped plastic on the door and the door to my closet, which also connects to this bathroom, but that dust is persistent.

I am just glad to have this part done, so we can start to envision what we want for this space!!

Goals, Inspiration and Adding Value to Our Home

I could be wrong, but I do not think this is our forever home.  I really think the outdated condition of our bathroom would have deterred future buyers.  While we don’t have an exact timeline for when we will put our house on the market, I don’t want to wait until then to put in all the time, money and energy to renovate it….just for someone else to enjoy!

So with that in mind…..

We are keeping the basic layout of the bathroom the same.  It works, and if it ain’t broke…..

The only thing I would have wanted that we decided against was a self-standing tub.  We currently have a jacuzzi style tub that my boys love and that has never had issues with mold (I know some do!) Re-working the plumbing and the expense of the tub itself (at least the ones I liked) just did not seem like a wise investment.

I want this bathroom to feel classic, clean and fresh!  I have some specific design ideas, but I want to be sure to create something that will appeal to the masses should we decide to sell.

I want to be sure we make smart choices that will make this bathroom aesthetically more pleasing, but also more functional!

The inspirational pics above are all from Pinterest.  You can check out more bathroom inspiration on my board here.

I truly think the changes we will make will add value to our home should we try to sell!  If you are leaning that way with your home, you can find more tips on buying and selling at Homes.com.

Find a great article about what your home is worth here and another about how to sell your home here.

Let’s Get This Party Started!

After the tile demo, and a small plumbing issue I will talk about later, we are ready for the fun part…selecting the tile!  This shower is prepped and ready!

I truly think with ALL the tile in this bathroom, the designs we choose from Jeffrey Court will set the tone for everything else!  I’ll be sharing that selection process next week!

Thank you so much for checking on our progress!  Be sure to check in on the other designers and their awesome projects here.

And is you missed last week, you can find some more, oh so lovely, before pics HERE.
