IF YOU FORGET ONE DAY…
Should you forget to move your elf. (it happens to ALL of us!!) this card is for you! Set this card out to explain why he did not move. You can use it the next day or sneakily set it out later in the day, since the card claims he flew home quick to explain!
You will also find a couple of blank cards to use as you please should you want to add a personal note to any of the days!
Day 1: Shoes Clues Scavenger Hunt!
Supplies: The Help! card, Clue 1, 2 and 3 cards, and the high top sneakers- all from the Bag marked “Days 1-7”
Instructions: Place your elf’s legs in a pair of shoes- your child’s or yours! Boots, sneakers…whatever they will think is funny!
Place the Help! card next to your elf and clue 1 close by.
Hide Clue 2 somewhere in the bathroom. Tape it to the toilet, mirror, or put it on the toilet paper roll. You can make this as easy or as difficult as you’d like for your child to find.
Place Clue 3 in a bedroom or somewhere where there is a bed.
Place your elf’s new shoes wherever you store silverware. Place the shoes close to your elf so he can arrive wearing them the next day!
Day 2: Oh What Fun! Ornament
Supplies: Oh What Fun! ornament and card
Instructions: Place the card, ornament and your elf on your tree or set the card on your wooden easel with the ornament so your child can place it on the tree.
Day 3: I see London…
Supplies: I see London card, underwear….yours, your child’s, etc. Whatever they will think is funniest!
Instructions: Place underwear all over your Christmas tree. Place elf and card on the tree.
Day 4: Santa’s Snow Tubing
Supplies: Santa’s snow tubing card, wooden easel, striped scarf, and pink innertube
Instructions: Place the scarf around your elf’s neck. Place the card on the wooden easel. Tear off a few strips of toilet paper to create your “snow hill.” I placed mine on my couch, but you can also use a chair, stairs, toys stacked up or pillows stacked on a bed.
Place your elf in his tube like he’s ready to ride. You can also put other stuffed animals, action figures, etc. at the bottom of the hill like they are watching or have already had their turn.
Day 5: EGGcellent Artist
Supplies: Eggcellent artist card, wooden easel, and cracked up card
Instructions: Use a sharpie or marker to draw on your eggs. Place the elf by the eggs holding a marker.
Crack one egg in a small bowl and place the, “He cracked up” card next to it.
You can just use one or two eggs if you don’t have a dozen or don’t want to draw on that many!
This is a fun one to set up in your fridge!
Day 6: Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt
Supplies: Scavenger hunt card, wooden easel
Instructions: Place the scavenger hunt card on the wooden easel. Take it with you when your family goes to look at Christmas lights. Mark each item off as you see it!
Day 7: Popcorn Bowl
Supplies: Popcorn sign, bag of popcorn, Saran wrap or foil (optional)
Instructions: Pop your bag of popcorn in the microwave. Lift your toilet seat and place a sheet of saran wrap or foil down. Close the seat to help keep it in place. Pour your popped popcorn into your “bowl”. Place your elf in the popcorn and place the card next to him.
If you’d like to see a video of us setting this up, remember that we’ll share a video set up of ALL the days on Instagram @crispcollectiveig
When you are done, simply lift the lid and fold up the saran wrap or foil. No popcorn should go into your bowl.
If you don’t want to use your toilet, you can grab whatever vessel would make your kids laugh. I used my son’s bike helmet above.
Day 8: Target Practice
Supplies: Target card, wooden easel, whatever condiment you’d like to use- mustard, ketchup, etc.
Instructions: Squeeze some of your condiment onto the card. Place the Target card on the wooden easel. Sit your elf on the bottle.
Day 9: Arrrrgh you ready?
Supplies: Pirate mask, Pirate card, Pirate coins
Instructions: Place pirate mask on the elf. Set card next to him with coins…OR place coins leading to finding the pirate elf, possibly in a cabinet or drawer.
We will show this idea, and video of all the set up on my Instagram @crispcolletiveig
Day 10: Whoopee!
Supplies: Whoopee card, Whoopee cushion
Instructions: Make sure your whoopee cushion is fully inflated. You may use your paper straw to blow a little more air into it. Write the number of days until Christmas on your card. Place the cushion on a chair. Place the card on top of it.
Place your elf somewhere nearby. I hope your children have fun sitting on this whoopee cushion and hiding it for others….these types of jokes are always a hit at my house!
Day 11: Tic Tac HO HO HO
Supplies: Tic Tac Ho Ho Ho card, 5 red bows, 5 green bows
Instructions: Set up your game board. Have your elves play together or if you only have one elf, you can use one of the blank cards to ask your child to play or have your elf play with another action figure, etc.
Day 12: Baking Spirits Bright
Supplies: Apron, chef’s hat, Baking spirits bright card
Instructions: This one is perfect if you have a day you plan to bake or decorate cookies with your kids! Dress your elf in the apron and hat. Set out all the necessary supplies and write them a note using one of the blank cards.
If you don’t want to bake, use sprinkles, sugar or salt to make snow angels (pictured above on a baking sheet for easy cleanup) or have your elf make a mess in the kitchen as if he has been baking. You could also surprise your kids with a sweet treat, so it appears their elf baked them something special.
BONUS:
This one is optional, but for our family, while we LOVE all the fun and festivities, JESUS is the reason for the season. Place this card open to the story of Jesus’s birth in the Bible or near a nativity scene. I usually do this set up for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, right before our elf heads home.
I cannot thank you enough for “elfing” with us this year! My hope is that this kit helped bring JOY to your family and took some stress off of you in an already stressful season! Thank you for letting us play a small part in your family’s Christmas magic! OH WHAT FUN!!!
