Summer Slushees in the Ice Cream Maker

June 22, 2021

Summer is here, and we are here for it!

Slushees are a summer staple at our house, so when I saw several “recipes” on Pinterest using an ice cream to make them, I knew we had to try!  I put “recipe” in quotes because this is really too easy to be called a recipe….it’s more of a method.

We have had this Cuisinart Ice Cream maker for years, and we LOVE it!  I bought a more expensive one to try and ended up coming back to this guy!  It’s affordable and super easy to use!

You can find it HERE.

I grabbed it at Walmart, along with some other summer staples for our backyard.

Walmart is always our go to for all things outdoors!

Click any of the images or the descriptions below to find these items!

Cuisinart ice cream maker// Festive kitchen towel// Shatterproof stemless wine glasses (SO good!)// Giant yard dominoes// Metal tub// Pioneer Woman bowls// Outdoor Flameless Lantern// Metal Tray Set// Plant Holder// Paper Straws// Pioneer Woman Tumblers// Yard Dice// Drink Dispenser// Planter// Folding Metal Cart

We spend a lot of time outside this time of year, and I love that I can grab everything we need in one place, including our slushee ingredients!  A cold drink in this Texas heat is a MUST!

Ice Cream Maker Slushee Ingredients:

Your favorite juice or soda (but not diet)

Your ice cream maker (HERE)

Fruit for garnish and a straw (optional)

That’s it!  This is why it’s a method, not a recipe!  Sure, you could mess with ice and a blender, but this is SUPER simple and fun!  We used rasberry lemonade…Will’s favorite!

Directions:

Be sure to freeze the bowl that comes with your Cuisinart ice cream maker overnight.  The ONLY times my ice cream has not turned out right has been when my bowl was not cold enough.  I just store the bowl in my freezer instead of the cabinet.  That way it is always ready to go!

Pour the desired amount of juice or soda into the ice cream bowl.

Turn your ice cream maker on, and let it do all work for about 6-8 minutes, or until your slush is the consistecy you like!

Put in a glass, garnish with fruit and enjoy!

The flavor combinations are endless!

If you want to use your ice cream maker for ice cream, I am sharing our favorite vanilla recipe below!  A recipe book is included when you buy the maker and there are also tons of fun recipes all over the iternet!  We have also used almond milk to make a dairy free version for my hubby!

Ingredients for Our Favorite Vanilla Ice Cream:

1 cup whole milk

3/4 cups granulated sugar

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

pinch of salt

Directions for Ice Cream

Chill the bowl to your Cuisinart ice cream maker overnight in the freezer.

Combine  milk and sugar in a bowl until sugar is dissolved.  Stir in heavy cream, vanilla and salt.

Place mixture in the fridge for a minimum of an hour.

Pour mixture into frozen Cuisinart bowl, turn machine on and mix for 15-25 minutes until thickened.

Eat immediately or place in an airtight container and place in the freezer until ready to serve.

I hope you and your crew enjoys these sweet treats all summer long!
