My boys head back to school this week, and we will have a kindergartener and a second grader in the house!!
And they will actually be IN the house….because our schools are mandatory virtual to start this year!
While this is not ideal for our family, we are determined to make an adventure! When things feel a little out of control, getting organized always helps!
My boys will be doing virtual school online live with their teachers working through leassons from home during set hours of the day, so they will need their own seperate work spaces away from each other! I know many of you are in the same boat of trying to figure out the best way to make school work for your family!
Rolling Carts
A Walmart run was in order! We grabbed two of these rolling carts to organize all of our school supplies. We are waiting on a few things from their schools that we will get this week, but this felt like a good start! These carts were also very easy to put together!
Find them HERE.
Neither of my boys are old enough to work completely independently, so I will bouncing between rooms to make sure they are staying on track with virtual school. I wanted to make sure they had all the supplies they needed readily available to start a project if I am not in the room at the time.
I also love that we can easily roll these carts to another spot in the house if a change of scenery is needed or if they need to use the printer.
School Supplies
Walmart’s site provides local school supply lists broken down by grade, making ordering SUPER simple.
Find links to the school supply lists HERE.
Maybe it’s the former teacher in me, but school supply shopping just makes me happy! Even though I have been out of the classroom for eight years now, I still view my year by the school calendar, and the first day of school marks a fresh start!
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes
While these won’t be totally necessary for virtual school for us to start, picking out a new backpack and lunch box is something my boys look forward to every year!

We may just be taking backpacks to the backyard, but we are ready!
Water Bottles
Water bottles are a sore spot for me as my boys have lost SO many over the years! We have beeen testing a bunch lately and the quality of these two brands are SO good, especially for the price!
They even beat some of the WAY more expensive brands in a little ice melting experiment we tried!
Now…to keep up with them!
Closet Staples and Graphic Tees
Both of my boys have grown and were in need of some closet staples. Walmart has so many affordable options! I was able to order online, items arrived quickly and returns were simple for items that did not fit.

Logan was especially excited about all the graphic tees that featured some of his favorite games!

Class of Shirt Tradition
Will has been SO ready to attend the BIG school with his brother!
One tradition that I started with Logan was buying a Class of shirt in the size I think he will wear as a senior in high school. The plan is to take Will’s picture every year in this shirt until his senior year when it should actually fit! Class of 2033!
I can’t wait to see the progression of pictures over the years… and I hope I don’t lose the shirt in the meantime! I found it HERE.
The Night Before…
I also pulled out this sweet book to read to him this week! Find it HERE.
Before Logan started kinder I interviewed him and wrote his answers in the front cover! I did the same with Will.
You can find the night before books below:

2020-2021 school year…I have no idea what you have in store for us, but I can’t wait to see how much my boys will grow! We have talked a lot about how in life you can’t always control the curcumstances. You CAN, however, control your attitude and actions. I give this talk to my boys (and myself!) often! Flexibility and grace is going to be the name of the game this year!
Wishing all of you teachers, administrators, parents and students the VERY best year possible! We got this!
This post was sponsored by Walmart, but all items were purchased by me and opinions are my own.
