3 Methods for Painting Pumpkins

October 27, 2021

Does your crew love to paint pumpkins?

Some years we carve them, some years we paint, but this year Will and I tried three different methods for painting our pumpkins that we want to share!

Simple Ghosts

I am not the most talented artist by ANY means, but I thought these turned out cute!

What you need:  Pumpkins, black and white paint, paintbrushes HERE

Paint your ghost shape on your pumpkin.  The beauty of these is that they do not have to be perfect or exactly the same.  Let the ghost shape dry.  Grab a small bush and dot on the eyes and mouth.

Squeeze Bottle Method

Will loved this, and it was less messy than just painting with a brush.

What you need:  Pumpkins, squeeze bottles HERE, paint HERE, spray paint (optional), a tarp HERE or box to contain the drips.

We chose to spray paint our pumpkin white first so that the color would show up better!

Once the spray paint is dry put your choice of colors into squeeze bottles.

Squeeze your paint onto the pumpkins at the stem, letting the color run down.  Let it dry well.

Painter’s Tape Method

What you need:  Pumpkins, painter’s tape, spray paint, and a box or tarp to spray paint on

Put your painter’s tape in the desired pattern on your pumpkin.  Spray paint and let it dry.  We were a little disappointed that out paint bled a little on these, but we still had fun!

We grabbed all of our supplies at Walmart.  They always make shopping easy, and had a wide variety of supplies that helped get our creative juices flowing!  Whether you choose to use one of these methods, or come up with your own, you can always count on Walmart for one stop shopping.  Find some of the supplies we used, and other items you might want to add to your pumpkins by clicking the links below:

Gifts for the Crafty Kid

Will is my more crafty, creative kid, and I love that he is always using his imagination to create. As we head into the holiday season I rounded up some fun gift ideas for the crafty kids in your life!

Find each of these by clicking the images below:

This post was sponsored by Walmart, but all items were selected and purchased by me, and all opinions are my own.

    Bethany,
I love all these ideas, and will be trying the squeeze bottle method for sure next year.
Your pumpkins all turned out so fun!

    Have a wonderful Halloween weekend,
    Brendt
