Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan

January 15, 2021

Jump to Recipe - Print Recipe

We have always loved chicken parmesan, and this air fryer method is easy and healthier than the original….win/win!

We paired ours with spaghetti, marinara, and roasted brussel sprouts (here)!  My hubby feels better when he eats gluten free so we opted for gluten free breadcrumbs and added Italian seasoning of our own.  If gluten is not an issue, the Italian style breadcrumbs add the perfect seasoning and the air fryer makes the crust crispy, while keeping the chicken juicy!  It’s a easy weeknight meal your whole family will like!

If you don’t have an air fryer, we have this one and LOVE it!  It does not require pre-heating and makes cooking many of our favorite recipes easier and healthier!

Find it HERE.

Ingredients:

2 large chicken breasts (1-1.5 lbs)

1 1/2 cups Shredded parmesan

2 cups Italian style breadcrumbs or GF breadcrumbs with Italian seasoning

2-3 large whisked eggs

Marinara sauce

Shredded mozzerella cheese

Directions:

My air fryer (here) does not require pre-heating, but if yours does, set to 350 degrees.

Slice the chicken breasts lengthwise and pound into thin slices so they are the same thickness.  This helps them cook evenly.

Whisk the eggs in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs and parmesan.

Dip the chicken in the egg and place it in the bowl of breadcrumbs, evenly coating all sides.

Place the chicken in the air fryer in a single layer.

Depending on the size/thickness of your chicken, cook for 7 minutes, and then flip and cook for 5 more.

Add marinara and cheese on top of your chicken and cook for 2-3 more minutes, or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees F.  I strongly recommend using a meat thermometer to double check.  Sometimes chicken looks done on the outside, but is not cooked throughout!  Find one HERE.

And dinner is served!!

I hope you’ll give this air fryer chicken parmesan a try!
